A few years ago, God blessed our family with a new home. It's bigger than our last home, so when we moved in we didn't have furniture for our Dining Room or Living Room. In our previous home, we used our Dining Room as a Homeschool Room and gave our table away. So our new home needed a new table but my husband, Kevin, and I agreed that buying a new table was not on our list of priorities. At that time our budget did not allow us to get new furniture and we were not going to go into debt for it.

Before we moved into our home, several people made negative comments to me about the lack of furniture saying things like, "Lisa, you sure are going to have to get more furniture and that is going to cost a lot of money. It may take you a while." Someone even said to me, "Your house is going to look so empty when people come in the front door because the first thing they see is your Dining Room and Living Room. " It would aggravate me a little, but I thought to myself, "I don't receive that and I am not going to agree with that!" Instead of getting discouraged, I went to the Word of God and wrote down several Scriptures that I knew applied to my situation.

THE HOUSE OF THE RIGHTEOUS CONTAINS GREAT TREASURE

Proverbs 15:6 says, "The house of the righteous contains great treasure." I thought, that doesn't sound like an empty house to me! So I prayed to God, "Father, our house is the house of the righteous. We love you, worship you, and honor You and I thank you that our house contains great treasure." Every time I thought about it, and would walk by the Dining Room, I thanked God for filling our Dining Room with a beautiful table. I prayed and spoke the Word of God in faith, believing that God would bring it to pass. I didn't know how God was going to do it, but I knew He could do it!

During that time, my husband Kevin said to me "Lisa, now be patient about furniture because we have other costs we have to take care of right now." When he said that to me, I didn't miss a beat. Words of faith came up out of my heart. I said to him, "Don't worry, Kevin, God is going to fill our rooms with rare and beautiful treasures!" He looked at me and said, "I agree with you!" I knew what he was thinking, "I'm glad it's going not be God and not me!"

Two weeks after we moved into our home a couple knocked on our door. They are long time friends and found out that we moved. They had no idea that we were praying for God to help us fill our home with furniture. That was between Kevin and me. The wife said to us, "Lisa, when you told me about your new home, God spoke to me clearly and said, 'Give Lisa and Kevin your Dining Room Table and chairs!'" They had the table and chairs in two trucks and brought it in that night and set it up for us. And we had only been in our house two weeks!

This table is a pedestal table like I have always wanted. The finish on it is exactly what I wanted. It has beautiful inlaid wood and hand carving on the edges. It has eight Chippendale chairs with fabric that even matches our rug! We couldn't have found a better table if we had tried to look ourselves! We were so excited. We rejoiced and then prayed that God would bless them with a new table!

And the story doesn't end there! Not long after that, a couple that owns a furniture store gave us a beautiful new buffet to go with our table. Our dining room is full now and we don't need anything else! Later on, my sister even called me and asked if we wanted their Living Room sofa and chairs because they were buying new furniture! God filled our home with rare and beautiful treasures. He was not limited by our income, budget or circumstances. If we had gone into debt for that table and taken matters into our own hands, we would have missed God's supernatural provision.

God knows how to prosper His people! What area in your own life in finances do you need to turn over to God and trust Him? You can trust God to do the same for you in whatever need you may have. Cast all your cares and thoughts before the Lord because he cares about them. God cared about my dining room table and He cares about your desires! You can trust God in your finances and matters regarding your home.
