Set Your Words, Set Your Year
By Joel Osteen - Jan 01, 2016

Happy New Year and welcome to 2016! So often, at the first part of any new year, people are coming out of the daze of the holiday season feeling focused, determined and ready to accomplish their goals and resolutions. But if we're not careful, before long, we'll find ourselves slipping back into our old routines and habits. Why don't you decide that this year is going to be different! Let this year be the year for you to break free from those things that have held you back once and for all. God desires for you to be free from every weight and bondage of the past. However, before you can change your behavior, you have to change what you're thinking and saying. Your thoughts and words clear the path for your actions.

Scripture tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. It also tells us to speak to our mountains, or the obstacles, that try to hold us. It won't just happen automatically or overnight, but anybody can change their words by purposing in their heart to do so. You might even set a reminder on your calendar or an alarm on your phone so you can take a minute or two each day to "talk to your mountain" and declare victory over your life. Then make sure that all throughout the day, you keep your words in line with God's Word and what you are believing for. Don't start talking about your problem; don't start feeding defeat. Instead, start the new year strong. Talk to your mountain and watch it move out of your way! Set your words for victory and set your year for victory!

"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." (Mark 11:23, NKJV)
