The Bond of Peace
By Victoria Osteen - Nov 11, 2016

Joel and I have been married for nearly 30 years! When I think about all that has happened over the course of our lives together, I am truly amazed. Joel and I have a wonderful relationship. He is such a great husband…and he tells me that I am a great wife! But over our three decades of marriage, we had to learn to adjust to one another. We had to learn to adapt to one another. We both had to be willing to change and learn to fit together. Let me tell you, that takes some sacrifice! But if you want to have good relationships, you have to be willing to sacrifice some things. You have to be willing to give when you don't feel like giving. You have to be flexible and focus on preserving peace in your home.

In this day and age, we have a lot of focus on "self" and what we want. It's good to know what you want, but there has to be a balance. Not everything is worth battling over. We don't always have to get our way; sometimes the bigger victory is keeping peace. Peace is the bond that holds our relationships together. The Bible says that where there is peace, there is a special anointing and God has commanded blessing.

Understand that every time you extend kindness, every time you hold your tongue when you'd rather be saying something, you are sowing a seed. You are sowing a seed of peace that's going to come back as an abundant harvest of fulfilling relationships in your future.

Make the decision today to preserve the bond of peace be it at home, at work or in your social involvements. As believers, we are the light of the world. We should always be drawing people into our lives, not sending them running. Let's be the kind of people that others want to be around. Let's be flexible with one another and preserve the bond of peace that refreshes the people around us and brings strength.

"How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1, NIV)
