Feeling Like a Grasshopper?
By Victoria Osteen - Dec 26, 2023

Do you feel like a grasshopper today? Numbers 13 tells the story of when Moses sent the twelve men to spy out the Promised Land. Too many of us are like the ten spies who came back and declared that the land was fabulous in every way…except for the powerful people, the giants, and the fortified cities there. We tend to do what they also did and compare ourselves to the giants that stand in front of our dreams and conclude that “we are like grasshoppers in our own sight.”

It’s easy to feel as though you’re stuck in a situation where your hands are tied, there’s nothing you can do, and it will never work out. Perhaps you don’t have the resources or the connections to change what you’re facing or accomplish your dream. There’s one obstacle after another, one setback after another. Let me remind you today that your hands may be tied, but God’s hands are never tied. There is no limit to His power on this earth. Don’t limit your options in life by what you see in your situations. Don’t decide it can’t happen because of what you feel or what someone told you. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). You’re not limited to what’s in your hands or by what somebody says about you.

You and I have the power to break our own limited mindsets. Instead of seeing ourselves as grasshoppers because we’re afraid, we can stir up the dream in our hearts and do as the spies Joshua and Caleb did. They saw the giants and said, “Hey, let’s go in at once and take the land because God is with us!” The key to their success in overcoming giants, and the key to our success when we face an impossible situation, is the word that God spoke to Joshua: “Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go” (Joshua 1:7). He was saying, “Be single-minded when it comes to obeying My Word and you will prosper. Don’t look at your obstacles.” Seek Him daily for His wisdom, His knowledge, His understanding, and His strength. Everything you need in this life is found in Him.

If we’re going to accomplish the things that God wants for us, we have to remember who He is. He’s the God who parts our Red Seas. He’s the God who speaks a word and heals the sick. He’s the God of the impossible. His hands are not tied. Don’t turn back. Take His hand and draw your strength from your limitless God!
