Take Hold of Strength

One challenge we all face as we're going through life is weariness. It's easy to get tired. Weary means to lose your sense of pleasure, to not feel the enjoyment that you should. You're doing the right thing but not getting the right results. It doesn't seem like it's making a difference. Sometimes because the battle is taking longer than you thought, you become weary.

The apostle Paul said, "Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart" (Galatians 6:9). God knew weariness would come, otherwise He wouldn't have told us to not get weary. Let me encourage you that your due season is on the way. Don't let discouragement or negative thoughts convince you to give up or settle where you are.

You may be dealing with battle fatigue today. You're tired of fighting and don't think you can go on. God wants to breathe new life into your dreams. Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). You don't have to do it on your own. Renewing your strength starts in your mind. "Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). The word "wait" in one version is defined as "Those who look for God's goodness, who expect His favor, who long for His blessing." What causes your strength to be renewed is when you live with expectancy, when you have this hope that God is working in your life.

The psalmist said to take hold of God's strength. It's available, but you have to take hold of it. When thoughts tell you, "It's never going to change, it's too hard," just say, "No, I know God is still on the throne. I know my time is coming. I've been armed with strength for this battle. I can do all things through Christ. God is renewing my strength so I can soar like an eagle."

Proverbs 19:11 says, "good sense makes one slow to anger and it is to one's glory to overlook an offense." It does us no good to go around offended. Shake off any offense. Give it to God and live happy, healthy, and whole.
