A Great Big Yes

In Genesis 12, God said to Abraham, "Here's My invitation to a land that I will show you, and I will make a great nation through you and make your name great. But you have to leave your family and comfortable home and not know where I am taking you." Before Abraham could receive the promise he had to say yes to God, even when he didn't know what it was going to look like. Have you ever felt like that? Have ever thought, "I don't know how this thing is going to work out. I can either stand where I am or I can say yes to God and move forward." That's what Abraham had to do, and so do we.

Abraham said yes to God's amazing promise, but years went by and no son was birthed to make a great nation. In Genesis 15, he reminded God that he and Sarah were childless and too old to have a baby. But he also kept saying yes to the promise. He'd go out of his tent in the night and look at the stars and say to God, "I can look at myself and Sarah, or I can look at You. I can consider what we're capable of in the natural, or I can recognize that You can do what You said. God, I believe Your promise." Despite the impossibilities, Abraham showed great faith with a great big yes and finally received the promises of God.

The Scripture says that when Abraham said that simple yes to God, "It was credited to him as righteousness." That means that Abraham was made to be in right standing with God. He could come freely to God and partake of what God had for Him. That righteousness gave him access to the grace of God, which kept Abraham on track and strong. All Abraham could do was say yes to God and in his account was the grace to bring God's promises to pass. Abraham couldn't have brought God's promises to pass in his own strength and willpower.

How are we going to keep our yes to God's promises strong? By simply coming to God even when we don't understand it, when we don't know what it looks like. We have to believe that there is grace in our account to bring forth the promises of God. Every time we go to that account and say, "Yes, God!" there is grace in our account to draw from. There is provision. That's what's going to cause you to become everything God has called you to be, because you're saying, "God, I believe Your promise. My response is, 'Yes, so be it.'"

Every morning you just need to say, "I'm going to my grace account the first thing! I wouldn't even think about going out the door without getting my grace first. God, You have the provision for everything I need. Do what I can't do. Give me the grace to see it through!"
