Crazy Thoughts
By Victoria Osteen - Sep 22, 2015

We all have "crazy" thoughts from time to time. We all have the tendency to exaggerate things in our minds or automatically go to an extreme. That's why it's so important to stop and think about what we are thinking about. It's not the fleeting thoughts that come and go that affect our lives but it's the thoughts that we allow to stay, the thoughts that revolve in our minds over and over. Those thoughts are the ones that direct our lives. We can't let "crazy" thoughts take up residence in our minds.

When Joel and I were first married we went to Colorado to ski. It was my first time on a ski lift and I was so nervous. We were sitting there and Joel was so happy swinging his skis, just having a good time. I was not having a good time. I just couldn't believe I was up there! I was clenching the side of the lift when suddenly I had this crazy thought, "Just jump off!" I was like—where did that thought come from?! Of course there was no way I was going to jump but my point is, just because you have a crazy thought doesn't mean you have to act on it and you certainly shouldn't meditate on it!

Maybe your "crazy" thoughts are thoughts like, "I'll never get out of debt" or "It's flu season, I just know I'm going to get sick." The truth of the matter is that any thought that is contrary to the Word of God is a crazy thought! Don't let that thought stay in your mind. Replace it with the Word of God. The best way to control your thoughts is by speaking His Word. You can't say one thing and think about another thing; your brain automatically focuses on whatever you are saying. That's why words are so important!

Today, I pray that you become more aware of what you are thinking about. Scripture says to take captive every thought. Don't let your mind wander aimlessly. Focus on His Word, stay determined, and set your life on the course for victory!

"Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." (II Corinthians 10:5, NKJV)
