Pass on the Spiritual Blessing
By Victoria Osteen - Oct 11, 2016

As a parent, you have the ability to pass on spiritual blessings to your children. You speak the blessing over them and encourage them, but there's also another way to transfer the blessing, and that is through personal touch.

Think about when a baby is born. The mother or father picks up that baby, and before he ever understands a word of approval, he senses your touch of approval. Research shows that when a baby is cared for and loved, it literally affects the way their brain develops emotionally. It affects the way they develop physically. The power of touch is so important because it transfers blessing and approval.

In scripture, when Isaac was an older man, he was the patriarch of his family and wanted to bless his son. It says he literally called to his son and said come close to me. He hugged his son and kissed him and transferred the blessing. He not only spoke the blessing, but he physically transferred it by touch. It talks about this story in Genesis 27 and says that Jacob received the blessing that day when he was at least 44 years old. This tells us that it's never too late to transfer blessing to your child.  You might think, "I haven't hugged my child in a long time, but they know I love them." What would happen if you grabbed them and gave them a hug and just said, "I bless you?" It doesn't matter how long it's been. It doesn't matter how old they are, your children need your blessing. If you don't have kids of your own, bless and affirm the children in your life. It doesn't matter if they are your niece or nephew or even a friend's children, they need affirmation. Pass on the spiritual blessing and sow good seed for the future!
