Just Say Yes
By Victoria Osteen - Aug 18, 2020
Have you ever struggled with saying yes to something you felt God was asking you to do? I think we all have. Think about Noah. When God spoke to him about building a huge ark, he knew that saying yes to God was going to bring many challenges. People ridiculed him and talked about how crazy he was. It took years and years to build that ark, but Noah didn’t let people’s criticism and unbelief change his steadfast commitment to God. Finally, the day came when he and his family were saved from the flood.

I have a friend who made a decision many years ago to say yes to God and leave behind some of her old habits and to serve the Lord in a new way. She is from a large family, and at the time, her decision did not sit well with her siblings. They made fun of her, put her down, and stopped inviting her to some of their family gatherings. But she held on to her yes, and when they did invite her to be with them, she loved them and was gracious despite their words. It took many years, but she became a sign of hope to her family, a reminder that there is a God. Today, many of her family members have committed their lives to Christ because she dared to hold on to her commitment even when it was difficult.

The apostle Paul says, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20). God has promises and purposes that He has established for us, and they are yes in Him. But who speaks the “Amen”? The Scripture says that we speak the “Amen,” which means “Yes, so be it.”

What is it that you need to say yes to today? Is it, “Yes, God, I’m going to forgive those people who hurt me”? Is it, “Yes, I’m going to believe that You can bring good out of this difficult time and show me Your favor”? Maybe it’s, “Yes, God, I’m going to reach out to those people whom You’ve put on my heart even though it’s hard.” Maybe it’s simply surrendering some things, letting go of a few things. Can I tell you that God is waiting for your yes?

I encourage you to just say yes to God today. Hold strong to the promises, knowing that God will bring it to pass. God has given you some assignments that only you can do. Stand firm in your yes, and you will be a beacon of hope to all those around you.
