Who Is Your Doorkeeper?
By Joel Osteen - Feb 26, 2021
We've all had times when something didn't work out. We didn't get the promotion, the loan didn't go through, the relationship didn't make it. We did our best--we prayed, we believed, we worked hard--still the door didn't open. But God wouldn't have allowed the door to close if it was going to keep you from your destiny. We may not see how it can work out, but God has not run out of options. The Scripture says, "He opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open" (Revelation 3:7). God is your doorkeeper. Other people can't keep you from your purpose; obstacles can't keep you from what God has ordained for you.

In Acts 12, King Herod had the apostle James killed and then put Peter in prison. Chained between two guards in the deepest part of the prison, Peter was to be brought to trial the following day. It looked like the end for Peter. Meanwhile the church was praying for him through the night. Herod did everything he could to keep Peter in, but he didn't realize that he couldn't keep God out. In the middle of the night, an angel came in, the chains supernaturally fell off, and Peter was led past guard after guard. When they came to the iron gate that led to the street, the gate "opened of its own accord."

As with Peter, some of the doors that should stop you are going to open of their own accord. It's not going to be anything you do. You can't make it happen or take credit for it. That sickness should be the end, but the door will open of its own accord and somehow you get well. You aren't qualified for the position and it seems as though you're stuck in your career, but the door opens of its own accord and the promotion comes to you. You've tried but not been able to break the addiction, but the door is about to open of its own accord and you're going to discover a power beyond your natural ability.

God is your doorkeeper--not your boss, not your banker, not your neighbor, not your critics, not your enemies. They may shut the door, but God can go right through it. He can make things happen that don't make sense. You just keep honoring God, being your best, and the right doors will open for you. Trust His timing. Don't be impatient because the door hasn't opened yet. God knows what He's doing. He's not going to let you miss your destiny. Doors are going to open of their own accord. You're going to see vindication, promotion, and opportunity. Closed doors can't keep you from your purpose.
