A Foundation That Lasts
By Victoria Osteen - Sep 23, 2016

Joel and I have been married nearly 30 years. When I think about all that has happened over the years, I am truly amazed. Joel and I have a wonderful relationship. He is such a great husband, and he tells me that I am a great wife. As good as Joel is, our marriage wasn't built on Joel being perfect. It wasn't built on me being perfect. It wasn't built on us agreeing on everything. We don't wake up in the morning and say, "Today, if you do everything right, I'll love you."

In order to have a great marriage, we had to make some decisions early on. We had to learn to adapt to one another. We had to be willing to change. Most importantly, we had to make the choice daily to build our home on unconditional love.

Can you imagine how my confidence would be affected if I wasn't sure if Joel loved me from one day to the next? Or, if I wasn't sure if I had done enough to please him? How often do people approach God that way? How can we have confidence if we don't fully embrace His love for us?

Scripture tells us that nothing can separate us from God's love. This is true. However, if we don't receive His love, we won't experience the benefit of His love. We won't be able to walk in His confidence and strength.

Today, don't let wrong thoughts separate you from all God has for you. Meditate on His love, receive His love, and let it shine through you. Let it sink down deeply into your heart and be a foundation of strength so that you can have confidence before Him and build all of your relationships on a foundation that lasts!

"Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13, NIV)
