Scripture talks about a time in scripture when there was a great famine. Four lepers were sitting outside the city gates of Samaria. They said to each other, "We have nothing to lose. We're going to die anyway. Let's go down to the enemy's camp and see what they're doing." As they walked toward the enemy, God multiplied the sound of their footsteps. It sounded like a huge army approaching. The enemy panicked and took off running for their lives. They left all of their food and supplies.
The lepers went back and told the Israelites what had happened. What's interesting is that the prophet Elisha just said the day before, "There will be so much food, you could buy a loaf of bread for one penny." God even told them, "By this time tomorrow." That seemed completely impossible. After all, they were in the middle of famine. There was no way in the natural, but we serve a supernatural God! He made a way where there seemed to be no way! Rest assured, He has some "by this time tomorrows" in store for you. That means He can make things happen faster than you think!
When it looks the most unlikely, get ready for the Most High God to show up and surprise you. Yes, there are seasons of waiting, seasons of being faithful, and doing the right thing when it's hard. But at some point, that season of testing is going to come to an end. Like the Israelites, you may feel like you're in a famine, surrounded by difficulties. If you ever wanted to doubt, be discouraged, talk yourself out of it, it would be now. My challenge to you is stay awake! Don't go to sleep in your spirit. God can work things out suddenly, unexpectedly, and in a way you didn't see coming! Stop and think, what can He do in your life by this time tomorrow?
Elisha replied, "Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the LORD says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria." (2 Kings 7:1, NIV)
