What Are You Tending To
By Victoria Osteen - May 26, 2015

Have you heard someone say, "Oh, I just don't have the time for that?" The truth is, we all make time for the things that are important to us. What they are really saying is, "That isn't a priority for me." When we tend to the areas of life that are important to us, when we make those things a priority, that's when we will flourish in those areas.

There's a scripture in Proverbs 27 that says, "Whoever tends to the fig tree will eat its fruit." What are you tending to in your life? In other words, what are you making time for?

I have a plant in my backyard, and when I tend to it, it grows. I haven't always tended to it. I had other priorities. I would look out and think, "Man, I need to get to that plant." Then one day, I got out there and took care of it. I pruned it, fed it and watered it; and now it's flourishing. Life works the same way.

You might have heard the old saying: The grass is greener on the other side. But the truth is, the grass is greener where you tend to it. You might look out and see that other people have "greener grass," but that's because they are tending to it!

Remember, the choices we make today shape the people we become tomorrow. If you just can't seem to get ahead, you might need to check your priorities. If you've had difficulties setting your priorities, ask God to help you. Ask Him to show you where to invest your time. If you want a strong family and a peaceful home, don't give your family your leftover time. Give them your best. If you want to lose a few pounds, you have to spend time investing in your health. It's not going to happen while you're scrolling through social media sites! You have to make time and tend to things that are important in your life so you can live the life of blessing God has promised you!
