When Doubt Comes
By Victoria Osteen - Apr 26, 2016

Anytime we step out to believe God for something, the enemy tries to throw us off course with thoughts of doubt and discouragement. He tries to steal our confidence by bringing confusion about our identity and purpose. He even tried this with Jesus.

Scripture talks about a time when Jesus went out into the wilderness. Just before He went, He was baptized and a booming voice came out of heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." Jesus was publically affirmed and honored by Father God and then the Spirit of God lead Him out into the desert.

Jesus hadn't eaten for 40 days when the enemy came and tried to tempt Him. He questioned who He was and tried to bring confusion to Him just like he did Eve. See, the enemy knows that if he asks enough questions, he can get you to start asking questions, and if he can get you to ask enough questions, he can get you to question God.

He started by saying, "If you are the Son of God, why don't you take these stones and turn them to bread." The enemy always tries to dispute our identity. He tries to dispute our worth and make us doubt who we are. If he can steal your identity, he can steal your confidence and cause you to shrink back.

But Jesus didn't have to prove Himself. Do you know how Jesus responded? By quoting the Word of God! He said, "Man doesn't live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." He was saying, "No Devil, I don't owe you and explanation. I don't have to prove who I am. I know who I am and I have been affirmed by Almighty God!"

Today, know that because God affirms you, you don't need to be affirmed by anyone else. Don't let the enemy throw you off course with questions. Don't let him steal your confidence and destiny. The next time the enemy tries to get you to doubt God's Word, the next time he tries to attack your self-worth and identity, declare God's Word out loud. When doubt comes knocking on your door, answer it with the Word of God! Stand strong against the lies of the enemy and keep moving forward into the destiny God has prepared for you!

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"

(James 4:7, NIV).
