You Are a Treasure
By Victoria Osteen - Apr 29, 2016

One of the greatest needs we all have is to have a sense of self-worth. Deep down, we need to know that we're valued, we're important, and that our lives matter. We want to know that we have something great to offer the world around us.

Oftentimes, people try to find their self-worth in things that don't last—looks, achievements and possessions. They feel important if they have accomplishments, drive a fancy car, or own the latest gadget. However, when you base your self-worth on temporary things that can change, then your self-worth will change.

Some people find their value in other people. They think if a certain person likes or approves of them, then they are "okay." However, if you find your value in the way others make you feel and they disappoint you or hurt you, then you might look at yourself and think, "There must be something wrong with me." No, the only problem is that you're getting your self-worth from the wrong places.

Where should we find our value? Where should we find our self-worth? Our value should come solely from the fact that we are children of the Most High God. We should know that we are important because God says we are important. The value God places on you is permanent. Nothing you can do and nothing anyone else can do will ever be able to change that.

Check your heart today and find your worth in the love of Christ. Find rest and peace in Him today knowing that your value is forever established in heaven.

…the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession. (Deuteronomy 14:2, NIV)
