A Commanded Blessing
By Victoria Osteen - Oct 31, 2017
The psalmist David said, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!... For there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forevermore" (Psalm 133:1, 3). That's where I want to live—in a good and pleasant place where we live together in unity and peace, because there is an anointing that flows when we're in unity. There's a power that flows in and through our lives and touches everything we touch. There is a commanded blessing from God that is there for all of us to receive and walk in.

In today's world where there is so much division, we need to realize that we can be in unity, and the best place to start to bring unity is in our own families. When you start with your family, that commanded blessing not only flows down through you, through your children, and through your entire family, but it flows and follows you everywhere you go. That blessing will follow you to your workplace. It will follow you into any difficult situation, because God says that where there is unity, there is a commanded blessing. And when God commands a blessing, there's nothing that can stop it. It may look impossible, it may be difficult, but you have to remind yourself, "When we are in unity and at peace, we walk in the commanded blessing."

The enemy wants to separate and bring division in our lives. He wants to put a wedge of strife and discontentment between us that grows bigger and bigger until we have no unity. Too often we find that we are fighting against each other when we should be fighting for each other in our families. How do we fight for each other? We fight for unity and peace in our home. One practical way you can do that is when you're tempted to say what you know you shouldn't say, or you're tempted to get your own way, think about this: if you say it or do it, you may miss out on a blessing. You may forfeit your commanded blessing because you want to get some temporary gratification. Put things into perspective and begin to realize that unity and peace are worth fighting for. Don't give in to what will divide you. Pursue unity. Chase it down, because that's where the commanded blessing is.
