A Special Invitation
By Victoria Osteen - Jul 27, 2011
Have you ever received an invitation in the mail to an event and at the bottom it tells you what type of attire? One time, Joel and I received an invitation to a special event at the White House. I was so grateful that the invitation read "business casual attire" because knowing how to present ourselves made it so much easier to prepare for the event.

In our spiritual lives, we are invited to a very special event—the most important event of all time. We are invited to come into the presence of the King of kings and the Lord of lords; and with the invitation, He tells us how to present ourselves to Him. Hebrews 4:16 tells us that we are to come boldly to His throne of grace! He wants us to come confidently to Him and draw near to Him in full assurance knowing that He is good and that He rewards the people who seek after Him.

Sometimes we get our perspective off and think that God is displeased with us, so we shrink back from His presence. We become timid or shy or standoffish. We "put on" intimidation, low self-esteem or fear. But that's not the right attire for the occasion. We have to take off those wrong mindsets and let ourselves be cleansed by the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:9).

Today, I want you to look at the special invitation from your heavenly Father in the Word of God. He's not asking you to be perfect. He's not expecting you to say everything perfectly. He's looking at your confidence in Him—your faith. If you're in Christ Jesus today, God sees you as complete in Him. Come with boldness, come confidently and come into His presence because He is good and has good things in store for your future!
