Make Room for God
By Victoria Osteen - Nov 23, 2010

God promises that He will place in your hand whatever you need in order to fulfill your purpose in this life. However, so many people are holding on to things that God never intended for them. When your hands are full of other things, it's difficult to receive what God has for you.

People fill their hands with lots of good things; they take on noteworthy obligations and hold on to impressive accomplishments. But "good" can be the enemy of "best." We have to take the time to evaluate what we have in our hands and be willing to let go in order to embrace the best that God has for us.

Sometimes, we hold on to things simply because we haven't realized that we need to put them down. Sometimes, it's a matter of recognizing that you are just holding on to too much. Maybe you've held on to something for so long that you're just comfortable with it; but now, it's time to step out of your comfort zone to make room for Him. It's time to let go of things like unforgiveness, wrong attitudes and negative mindsets. You may have some friends that are pulling you down, but you don't want to leave them because you don't want to be all alone. God is saying, "Evaluate your life."

Sometimes we lay things down and then pick them back up. If that's you, it's okay; just lay it back down again. Every time you lay that thing down, you are getting stronger and stronger. It won't be long until you have the strength to lay that thing down for good.

Sometimes, we may need to lay things down and it's not for good. It's temporary. "Not now" doesn't always mean "never." That's when we have to trust that God has our best interest at heart. He is leading and guiding you and working all things together for your good.

Today, know that God wants to help you. He wants to bless you, and He has good things in store for your future. But the Bible says that He is a gentleman. He's not going to push those good things on you; instead, He's going to wait until you are ready. He's going to wait until you are open. Today, make room for Him. Be willing to open your hands and heart and receive the blessing He has in store for you!

I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you. You will still be eating last year's harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new. (Leviticus 26:9-10, NIV).
