Break Every Stronghold
By Joel Osteen - Oct 25, 2010
Years ago, my dad's sister was very, very sick. She had been bedridden for months. She couldn't walk or feed herself. She was in a very poor condition. One day, my Dad decided to go up to Dallas to pray for her. He got to her house and her room was so dark and gloomy. When Daddy saw her in that pitiful condition, he said a holy anger came all over him, and he very forcefully said, "Don't tell me that God did this to my sister." He didn't even really know why he said it. But to make long story short, he prayed for Mary, and she was instantly healed. That moment she got up and began to walk and feed herself; it was a great miracle.

Later that day, she told my dad something very interesting. She said, "John, when you said, 'Don't tell me that God did this to my sister,' it was like a bomb exploded on the inside of me." And she then said, "For the first time, I thought maybe God didn't do this to me. Maybe God wants me to be well." I believe that simple change in her mindset made all the difference.

Just one wrong thought, just one stronghold can keep you in bondage for a lifetime. If you don't think you have what it takes, if you think that you can't overcome your past, if you think God doesn't want you to live in victory, that stronghold will keep you from enjoying God's abundant life. I challenge you again to reprogram your thinking. Second Corinthians 10 tells us that we have to take every thought and make it line up with the Word of God. You have to get rid of every stronghold because what happens in your mind directs what happens in your life.

Today, don't let another negative thought take up residence in your mind. Remember, faith is believing that God is who He says He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Stay in an attitude of faith today. Stay in a positive frame of mind and keep yourself open to the blessing and victory He has in store for you!
