His Punishment Brought Us Peace
By Victoria Osteen - Oct 13, 2009
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by his wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53:5, NIV).

So many times, people go around living guilty and condemned over past mistakes. They literally punish themselves over and over thinking that eventually they will have paid for their mistakes and somehow feel better. But the scripture tells us that we don’t have to punish ourselves. We don’t have to carry the burden of guilt because Jesus already paid the price for our sins. He took our punishment so that we could receive His peace. Now, we can live a life of restoration because of what Jesus has already done for us!

Whatever your situation might be today, remember that Jesus has already paid for your peace. Whether you’re having trouble in your marriage, your job, or your finances, don’t let distress or offense take hold of your life. When people are coming against you saying things about you or mistreating you, you've got to rise up and say, “Jesus, You bore far more than I will ever have to bear for my peace. So I call on that peace right now.” Resist the temptation to be offended because when offense creeps in, it will take you down a spiral of untruths. If you allow offense to stay in your heart, and you don't get rid of it every single day, it will tell you lies that you'll perceive as real. You'll act differently and miss the victory God intended for your life.

So today, remember that because of His punishment you can live in peace. You can have joy! You can walk in liberty! Keep doing your part to take hold of all He has for you by faith and watch how His restoration leads you in the path of freedom and victory in every area of your life!
