Program Your Mind for Victory
By Joel Osteen - Sep 14, 2009
Not long ago, I read about a study that was done on people who needed arthroscopic knee surgery. Their knees were worn down and needed to be cleaned out. With permission from the families of the patients, a group of doctors took a certain number of patients, and instead of performing the actual surgery, they simply made three small incisions around the knee so that it appeared as if they had done something. When the patients woke up after the operation; of course, they thought they had the full surgery.

What’s interesting is that two years later, the patients who didn’t have surgery reported just as much relief from the pain as the patients who had the actual surgery—and it wasn’t just in their minds. When the doctors examined them over time, they could see that their knees were much improved. Their conclusion was that since the mind expected the knee to get better, it got better. What the patient believed actually helped them to heal.

What do you believe about yourself today? Do you believe what God says about you—that you’re more than a conqueror, that you are the head and not the tail? Jesus put it this way, “You will become what you believe.” If you believe you’ll never break that addiction, then you’ll never break it. If you believe that you’re not attractive, not that talented, and don’t have much to offer, then you will go through life with low self-esteem and miss out on the fullness of God’s blessing.

If your thoughts have been focused in the wrong direction, today is the day to turn things around and start programming your mind for victory. All throughout the day, dwell on thoughts like “I’m blessed. I’m talented. I’m strong. I’m healthy. I’m creative. I am more than a conqueror.” When you set your mind on God’s Word and focus your thoughts in a positive direction, you’re going to draw in the good things of God. You’ll begin to experience more of His favor and blessing, and you will be able to embrace all the good things He has in store for you!

Victoria and I just want to say thank you to the tremendous crowd that came out to the Time Warner Arena in Charlotte, NC on Friday for our “Night of Hope” event. We had over 10,000 people in attendance, and we were so honored to meet personally with so many local pastors and several members of the Billy Graham organization. We were grateful to have Senator Thomas Alexander with us as well and appreciate so much all the volunteers that came out and helped make the evening possible!

Please know we love and pray for you every day and hope to see you at one of our events soon!
