Your Year of Jubilee
By Joel Osteen - May 11, 2009

"Over the weekend, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Lakewood Church. It was truly overwhelming to reflect on all that God has done and all the people who have been transformed in the last 50 years! I am so grateful to my Mother and Father for their hard work and sacrifice to lay such an amazing foundation for this ministry.
In the Old Testament under the old covenant, 50–year increments were very significant. Every 50th year was known as the year of Jubilee. The year of Jubilee was a time of freedom and remuneration. Bondages were broken, all debts were canceled, and all slaves and prisoners were released. All property and land would go back to the original owner's family. For most people, it was a once–in–a–lifetime experience. They knew that no matter what was happening in their lives, if they could just make it to the year of Jubilee, they would receive their breakthrough and everything would be OK.

Today, because of Jesus, we live under a new covenant. We don't have to wait 50 years to live in blessing and freedom. This is your year to be released from bondage, lack, fear, addictions, sickness–anything that would hold you back from becoming all that God created you to be. Jubilee is about restoration, freedom, provision, and harvest; and you can live in Jubilee every day of your life!

Remember, God's dream for your life is so much bigger than your own. You don't have to beg God to do something in your life–He longs to be good to the people who seek after Him. He is moved by our faith in Him. Begin to thank Him for His faithfulness by saying, "Father' I believe this is my year of Jubilee! Thank You for this season of blessing and breakthrough. I believe that You are working on my behalf to bring me into the life of abundance and freedom that You have prepared for me!
