Blessed Out of Season
By Joel Osteen - Apr 06, 2018

There are times when everything is falling into place for you, and you sense it's your season. You're living with the expectancy that God's about to do something new. But what about the times when things aren't going your way, business is down, the medical report isn't good? It's not your season. The good news is that God specializes in doing things out of season. He doesn't wait for the perfect circumstances to line up, for you to have the training, for the right people to believe in you. He does things unexpectedly. What happened? God blessed you out of season.

In the Scripture, Sarah gave birth to a baby when she was ninety years old. She was way past her childbearing years, but God does things out of season. David was a teenager, taking care of his father's sheep, when the prophet Samuel showed up at his house and anointed him to be the next king of Israel. He was promoted out of season, when he didn't have the qualifications and wasn't next in line. David didn't know that God was about to do something unusual. Neither he nor Sarah was "in season."

A while ago I had one of those weeks when it seems like everything goes wrong. It was one headache of a challenge after another, and then we had a major piece of equipment break that we had to replace. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I came home to find Victoria holding our dog and crying. Long story short, we had to put the dog to sleep. If there was ever a time when I felt like it was definitely not my season, it was then. I was praying that God would help us make it through.

In the middle of all that difficulty, I received a call from a vice president of one of the largest, most influential media companies in the world. I had never had any contact with him, but he presented us with the biggest media opportunity we've ever received, which we agreed to pursue. When I felt the least favored, when I had the most opposition, God showed up and blessed me out of season.

Do you feel out of season, as though you're stuck in some area? Stay encouraged. God has you in the palms of His hands. Get ready for an "out of season" blessing, for a "it's beyond my imagination" healing, for an "it doesn't make sense" promotion. God is about to do something unusual, something that's bigger than you've dreamed, where you're going to say as I did, "Wow, God! I didn't see that coming!"
