Nothing Happens Until You Speak
By Joel Osteen - Feb 08, 2019

In Luke 1, when an angel told Zechariah that his wife, Elizabeth, was going to have a baby, he was surprised because of their age. He said, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.” The angel said, “Zechariah, it’s going to happen, but now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens because you did not believe my words.” That’s how powerful words are. God knew that if Zechariah went around speaking defeat, “We’re too old. This isn’t possible,” that would stop the promise.

God has spoken promises to your spirit that may seem too big, impossible. You don’t have the connections, the experience, the funds. Don’t talk yourself out of the miracle. Your words have creative power. When you speak something out, you’re giving it the right to come to pass. It’s one thing to believe you’re healed, but when you say, “I am healed,” that releases the healing. It’s not enough to just think positive, to believe that you’re blessed and have favor, and pray for God’s blessings—that’s all good, but nothing happens until you speak. The Scripture says the spirit of faith is in our words. When you say, “I am blessed. I have favor. I am coming out of debt,” angels go to work, good breaks will find you, the right people will track you down.

Sure, there will be times when you’re saying the right things, speaking faith, but nothing is changing. The Scripture says, “Hold fast the profession of our faith” (Hebrews 10:23). It implies something is trying to take it away. It’s like a tug of war. The enemy’s on the other side trying to pull away what God put in your heart. You may have had that sickness for a long time—hold fast your profession. Don’t get talked out of it. Keep speaking healing, keep declaring, “I am healthy. I am whole.” If you’re in debt, keep talking about abundance. If you have an addiction, keep talking about freedom.

The miracle is in your mouth. There is healing, there is freedom, there are new levels in your mouth. Get in agreement with God and declare what He put in your heart. Let me help you get started with this declaration: “I am blessed. I am prosperous. I am forgiven. I am healthy. I am free. I have the favor of God. Dreams are coming to pass. Problems are turning around. New doors are opening. I’m excited about my future. I will become all God created me to be in Jesus’ name.”
