Enter with Thanksgiving
Today is a special day in America as we celebrate the goodness of God in our land and thank Him for our freedoms. What an amazing privilege we have to pause and remember the good things that God has done in our lives and in the lives of our family members. When you take the time, you can see those places and spaces in your life when God brought you victory, brought you success, brought you through every difficulty.
Psalm 100 is called "A Psalm of Thanksgiving." It tells us that today we should "enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." Notice that the psalmist tells us that we shouldn't come empty-handed to the King of kings and the Lord of lords. What do we have to give that's worthy of Almighty God? Our praise. Our thanksgiving. Our worship. When we bring an offering of gratefulness to God from our hearts for Who He is and all that He has done, it will transform our lives.
Living with an attitude of thanksgiving can happen every day of the year, because Thanksgiving isn't just a holiday; it's an attitude of the heart. It all depends on what you choose to focus on. You can either focus on your problems, or you can focus on your blessings. The question is, Do you want more problems, or do you want more blessings? Living with an attitude of gratitude means you don't just thank God for what He did in the past, you also thank Him for what He will do in the future. You thank Him for opening new doors. You thank Him for increasing you. You thank Him for bringing the right people into your life.
When we thank God in advance, that's really a declaration of faith. Your thanks is saying, "God, I'm so sure of Your goodness, I'm so sure that You're working in my life that I'm going to thank You right now for what You are going to do tomorrow!" Remember, faith is what pleases God. Faith is what moves Him. Faith is what opens the door for His promises to enter your life.
