Seasons of Life
By Victoria Osteen - Feb 09, 2021
Ecclesiastes 3 begins with these words of wisdom: "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to plant, and a time to harvest...a time to break down, and a time to build up...a time to mourn, and a time to dance...a time to keep silence, and a time to speak." Too often we fail to understand this principle that we are in a season right now, and God has a purpose for this time in our life. If we don't recognize the different seasons we're in, we're bound to miss the purpose they are meant to serve as well as miss how they should be preparing us for the next season of our life.

If you start reading about the life of Joseph in Genesis 37, you'll see a young man who was in a growing season, but suddenly wintertime overwhelmed him with a series of storms. He went from being sold into slavery, then being falsely accused of a crime and held in prison for years. I can imagine he felt his life was completely dormant and dark, much like the trees, bushes, flowers, and grass if it’s winter where you live. But Joseph used his time wisely in the prison and all through that long season he built faithfulness and steadfastness into his character, which prepared him to eventually become the prime minister of Egypt. Joseph went from a season of being ruled to a season where he ruled.

Have you thought about the season you are in today? While we wish we were in a constant blooming season with things always going our way, you may be in a challenging and difficult season. Perhaps you're going through a painful season right now. You may be raising children on your own, or going through a financial struggle, or walking through a season of illness or grief. Recognize that it is a season, that it is where God has you right now, and that God wants to use everything in this season to keep you moving toward His purpose for your life. Tell yourself that just as winter gives way to spring, there are better days ahead. Be your best as you go through it, and you'll get to where you want to be.

It's time to embrace whatever season you're in, to find out what the season has for you, and to be the very best you can be. Don't waste the season. Squeeze out of it everything you can. Make the changes in your life, move forward, and keep growing. God is going to get you to blooming season in His time, and you are going to become everything God intends you to be.
