Light Your Pathway
By Victoria Osteen - Dec 14, 2021
A few years ago I was in a garden store when I noticed some little solar lights that I thought would be perfect to light a path on the side of our house where I'd often stumbled in the dark. So I bought the lights and put them into the ground along the path, but that night I was disappointed to find the lights were not on. I discovered there was a tiny tab I needed to pull that allows the daylight to power the lights, and immediately they worked perfectly.

So how is the lighting on the pathway of your life?

The apostle John wrote that Jesus Christ is the light of the world and that the darkness of this world cannot overcome it. Jesus says, "If you follow Me, you won't be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path" (John 8:12). Perhaps you're struggling to get through to the full light of Jesus. Maybe you've allowed some things to block the light of God from your life. Maybe busyness is crowding in, or perhaps anger and unforgiveness are obstructing the light. Perhaps some friends who don't share your values are darkening your path more than you care to admit. They don't understand the importance of being in the house of God or the value of prayer and worship. But you keep letting them pull you away because they've been friends for a long time.

Today I encourage you to start to put aside whatever it is that is stopping you from being fully exposed to the light of God. The Scripture says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105). It will shine upon you and drive away the darkness and show you the right direction for your life. You can eliminate some of the busyness from your schedule. You can say no to the anger and bitterness by extending forgiveness to those who have done you wrong. Don't allow friends to stand in the way and keep you in a dark place, and don't let even good things keep you from spending time with God in His Word and prayer.

It's time to pull the tab and let the light shine in fully. Get rid of whatever is blocking the light and let God's presence shine on you and light your life. I want to challenge you to take ten minutes today, and tomorrow, and the next day to sit and be with God and read His Word. Let His presence shine on you and light your pathway to a blaze. Don't allow anything to keep you from it!
