Which Life Path Do You Take?
By Joel Osteen - Sep 16, 2022
Sometimes life can be confusing. We wonder, "How do I know what my purpose is? What am I supposed to do?" There are so many different paths we can follow. We have ideas and goals that we want to accomplish, but we're not sure if our plan is God's plan. "Is this just my idea, or is it a desire I should pursue? Is it a part of my destiny? How do I know for sure?"

David says, "If you commit your way to the Lord, if you trust Him and do good, if you take delight in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:3-5). I take that to mean when you honor God, when you have a heart to please Him in all your ways, He will put the right desires in you. You can trust that your will, what you have a desire to do, will be aligned with His will. That means you can act on the open door you feel good about, the position you want to take, or the person you're interested in, trusting that God is putting His desires in you. Knowing our purpose and knowing God's will for our life are not as difficult as we make them. If you keep Him first place, there will be things that you're passionate about, things you're gifted at, opportunities that excite you, dreams that motivate you. That's God leading you into your destiny.

When you've committed your way to God, you can be sure that He is watching over your desires. He's going to override wrong desires, close wrong doors, and move people out who shouldn't be there. I'm not referring here to carnal desires and temptation that we all have to deal with. I'm saying that when it comes to fulfilling your purpose, God is going to make sure you have the right desires. He says, "I will guide you along the best path for your life. I will advise you and watch over you" (Psalm 32:8). Notice how God takes you down the best path: He puts desires in you, advises you, instructs you, and watches over you. You don't have to worry about missing your destiny.

I want you to have the confidence that because you're committing your way to God, He's putting the right desires in you. You're not going to have to worry or wonder about which way you should go or what you should do. You can relax, knowing that God is not just opening the right doors and bringing the right people, but He's giving you the want-to, the passion, the drive, and the wisdom to go down the best path for your life.
