Don’t Take the Privilege for Granted
By Victoria Osteen - Dec 20, 2022
Everywhere Jesus went there was always something or someone demanding His attention. He was healing someone, feeding vast multitudes, teaching on the hillsides, or instructing His disciples. Yet in the midst of an unbelievably busy life, Jesus maintained a habit that is an example for us to follow. Mark 1:35 says, "Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray." He often withdrew from the busyness of the day to quiet places where He could connect with His Father in heaven. He was showing us how much we need to do the same.

I often realize during my private times of worship just how much praise can change my perspective on my life. Too often I take the privilege of prayer and worship for granted. It can change the climate of what's around me. I find that praise is like putting my natural into God's supernatural. When we take our natural situations and the challenges we face as well as our moods and our emotions and put them into God's supernatural hands, it can change everything for us. When David was in a very difficult situation, he began to worship the Lord, declaring, "You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head" (Psalm 3:3). Praise can lift our heads! The prophet Isaiah says we can literally change our life perspective by putting on "a garment of praise for a spirit of heaviness" (Isaiah 61:3). We don't have to trudge around in those heavy, burdened down clothes!

So today if there's anything weighing you down, purposefully disconnect from the demands on your time and spend time with your Father. When you enter into praise, you can change those clothes into God's supernatural grace and mercy. The Bible says that when our spirit connects with God's Spirit, something incredible happens. We are ignited with the power of Almighty God. The strongest part of you is not your physical body or your emotional or soulish realm. The strongest part of you is your spirit. And when you connect the strongest part of you with the strongest force in the universe, there's a powerful transformation that takes place.

Just sing your song of worship to God today, and you'll take your natural and put it into God's supernatural. Remember, your worship and praise is between you and God alone. So just press into His praise. Get close to your heavenly Father. Your hope is in our unshakable God. He spoke the universe into being, and He's in control of your life. You just have to understand that He is, and always will be, the One who can get you through anything.
