Welcome to 2023!
Happy New Year and welcome to 2023! This new year presents new opportunities, new reasons to give thanks to God, and new ways to serve Him. So often, at the first part of any new year, people are coming out of the holiday season feeling focused, determined, and ready to accomplish their goals and resolutions. But if we're not careful, before long we'll find ourselves slipping back into our old routines and habits. Why don't you decide that this year is going to be different? Let this year be the year to break free from those things that have held you back once and for all.
When God told Abraham to "go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation.." (Genesis 12:1-2), I'm sure Abraham loved his relatives and his life there. For a season everything had been fine, but when God was about to do something new and big for Abraham, He knew the people and things around him there would try to keep him from what He had put in his heart. Sometimes you have to leave certain things behind so you can become all you were created to be.
Is there something you need to leave behind? A hurt, a bad attitude, an area that you're compromising in? Don't bring that into the new year. Those things were in your 2022, but they don't belong in 2023. You can't go through life holding on to hurts, wrong attitudes, and people who are not good for you. Say goodbye to failure; this is a new day. Say goodbye to guilt; you're forgiven. Say goodbye to what didn't work out; God has something better. Make the resolution that says, "I am not getting stuck on what held me back in 2022. I know God has a new chapter for me in 2023-a chapter filled with blessings, favor, and victory!"
It's a new year, and God is saying, "For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?" (Isaiah 43:19). His plan is to increase you, open new doors before you, and take you places that you've never imagined. He has something big in your future, and He has something big in store for this year. He's already planned out big breaks, big opportunities, and big ideas for you. He is doing a new thing!
2023 is your year to rise up higher in your relationships, health, finances, and most of all, in your walk with God. As you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you. Receive it by faith and declare, "Yes, God, this is for me today. I know You're a big God, and You have something new coming my way in 2023!"
