God didn't create us to just get by in life, to just have enough for what we need. We're grateful for that, but God is not a get-by God; He's an overflow God. He wants you to have an abundance so you can be a blessing to others. He wants you to have so much joy that you bring joy wherever you go. He wants you to have so many resources that you can help those around you. You may not have seen this yet, but God is about to do a new thing. He has explosive blessings that will catapult you to a new level. One touch of His favor will take you from having just enough to having more than enough.
Sometimes people will try to convince you that you're not supposed to be blessed. Back when my father was in seminary, he was taught he was supposed to be poor to show that he was humble. Yet one of the names of God is "El Shaddai," which is usually translated "God Almighty" and means "more than enough." If God wanted you to just get by in life, why would His name be "More Than Enough"? Don't let people talk you out of the overflow that God has for you.
David says, "God will crown the year with a bountiful harvest, even the hard places will overflow with abundance" (Psalm 65:11). This overflow is not just to accomplish dreams, not just to go further, but you're going to see overflow in the hard places. Maybe you're facing an illness and taking a treatment, you're raising a difficult child, or you're in a tough time at work. That is not going to defeat you. You're going to overflow with strength, overflow with wisdom, overflow with health, overflow with favor. Perhaps you're struggling with depression, fear, anxiety, or worry. That is not your destiny. You're about to overflow with joy, overflow with peace, overflow with victory. You had a setback in your finances, and you don't see how you can get ahead. You're about to overflow with favor, overflow with good breaks, overflow with opportunity. There's going to be plenty of strength, plenty of healing, plenty of peace, plenty of grace.
You need to get ready, because overflow is coming. You're going to overflow with creativity, with talent, with ideas. You're going to overflow with good relationships, with great people in your life. You're going to overflow with influence, with respect, with promotion. You're going to overflow with resources, where you come out of debt, where you lend and not borrow. Get in agreement with God. "Lord, thank You that overflow is coming. Thank You that You're a more-than-enough God."
