Do You Not Perceive It?
By Joel Osteen - Mar 10, 2023

When we’ve gone through disappointments and setbacks, it’s easy to get stuck, to settle where we are, and to think this is as good as it gets. But God says, “I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19). He didn’t create you to get stuck at one level and stay there. He has new opportunities, new relationships, new favor. It may look as though you’ll always struggle in your finances or always have to live with a sickness, but God is saying, “I’m doing a new thing. I’m bringing promotion and increase. I’m breathing energy, vitality, freshness into your body. You’re about to see a turnaround.”

Isaiah’s prophecy was directed to the Israelites when they had been in captivity in Babylon for many years. Not only were the Babylonians holding them, but all around them was the desert. Even if they tried to leave, they couldn’t survive. But God explained what the new thing was: “I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” God was saying, “This new thing I’m about to do is not going to be natural. It’s going to be supernatural.” That’s why you can’t figure it out. It’s not going to be logical. What God is about to do is going to be unusual, uncommon, out of the ordinary. You’re going to see rivers where there should be dry places.

The Scripture says, “Even in famine the righteous will have more than enough” (Psalm 37:19). It seems as though in a famine you would barely get by. But God does things that defy the odds. Don’t limit this new thing to what you think can happen. “If I can just learn to live with this sickness.” No, God is going to free you from the sickness. “If I can just pay my bills, I’ll be happy.” God’s going to bring you into overflow. “If my child would just stay out of trouble.” That child is going to do great things. You may not see how. That’s okay. It’s not up to you. It’s up to God. He’s the One who makes rivers in the desert. He’s the One who parts the Red Sea, cures the lepers, and multiplies the food to feed thousands.

Now you have to do your part and receive the prophecy. “Now it springs forth.” Don’t limit what God is about to do to what you’ve seen in the past. What He already set in motion is something better than you can imagine. Start looking forward, expecting His goodness. This is a new day. Keep believing, keep talking like it’s on the way, keep doing the right thing. You’re going to see God exceed your expectations.
