Inspiration

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Many of us think that if we can just live good enough, clean ourselves up, get rid of a bad habit, and not fail anymore, God will bless us and show us His favor. The problem is that we can’t live that way. We all make mistakes, give in to temptations, and let our emotions take over. The condemning voices come, saying, “You blew it. God’s never going to help you.” But that’s not the way our God is. When we couldn’t come up to His level, He came down to ours. If you only see Him as the high and holy Creator of the universe, you’ll feel overwhelmed that you can never measure up. You have to see Him as the God who stoops and comes down to our messy places, our dysfunction, our failure, our compromise. He comes down to where you are. The beauty is that He comes not to condemn you, not to point out all your mistakes. He comes to lift you, to restore you, to free you, to set you on a new path. 

Father, thank You for Your heart of compassion, love, and restoring mercy in coming down for me. Thank You that You forgive and redeem me, imperfect as I am, and that every mistake I’ve made has already been paid for by Jesus on the cross. I believe that You have set me on a new path.
