Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
The Scripture tells us to be aware of the enemy’s schemes, to be knowledgeable of his strategies. Sometimes the temptation he brings is subtle. It’s just a whisper of doubt. It’s just enough to make you think that maybe a promise from God won’t work out, maybe it’s not what God says it is. In the Garden of Eden, the serpent came to Eve and said, “Really? Did God really say…?” It wasn’t overwhelming. It was just a question: “Really?” A whisper of doubt.
When God puts the promise in your heart that you’re going to get well, don’t be surprised if you hear the whisper, “You really think so, given the medical report?” “You really think you’re going to have a good year?” “You really think that relationship is going to be restored?” Be aware of these subtle hints of doubt that will grow to where you defeat yourself. Recognize that whether the lie is loud or subtle, it’s trying to create doubt, fear, and confusion so you’ll miss who you were created to be.
Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that the promises You have spoken always accomplish Your will and prosper. Thank You that You have made me aware of the enemy’s subtle schemes to get me to doubt what You have said. I declare that I will not allow Your Word to be challenged in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
